WILLIAM
NORRIS
William
Norris, known as "Billy" to his friends, is a third generation
Kenyan of British descent, his adventurous spirit and love for Africa
is inherited from his grandfather who trekked from the coastal town
of Mombasa to the highlands of Mount Kenya by ox cart.
Billy
grew up in Tsavo National Park and its surroundings. Bush lore and
the local language became his second nature. His education
involved travelling around most of East Africa's wildlife refuges.
His
bush and ranching experience and game control work in the Great
Rift Valley gave him the necessary skills to both build and manage
luxury-tented camps. The Grumeti River Camp in Tanzania,
famous for its large populations of crocodiles and its close proximity
to Lake Victoria, is one of his finest examples. During this
time, he also guided professionally in the Serengeti.
After
building and managing the Grumeti River Camp, Billy started operating
and guiding Luxury Tented Mobile Safaris throughout most of East
Africa's Parks, working closely with companies like Tanzania Outfitters
and Safaris, and Ker & Downey (Kenya). Today, he is an
Associate Guide with Royal African Safaris. He also spent three
years in the Australian outback, guiding trips through the interior
of this vast country.
Billy's
work with wildlife and tourism and his dedication to conservation
have groomed him for his life's vocation - to show people and have
them enjoy the Africa he knows so well. In addition to his
knowledge of Africa, Billy has become well known for providing his
guests with exciting and adventurous safaris.
