Guide Profile

ANDREW CAMPBELL

Having been born and brought up in Kenya, I have had the luxury of living a good deal of my life on safari. I am now lucky enough to live a lifelong dream and my passion for the great out doors has now become my job and the bush is now my office.

I spent my most memorable schooling years in Kenya and went on to further education in the United Kingdom graduating in languages. Having worked for a brief period in London I decided to return to my homeland to pursue my obsession for the bush and set up my own company offering professional safari guiding services. A few years later I met my wife, Claudia who had traveled from Australia to Kenya on the start of her around the world trip. Luckily for me she didn't get very far and after exploring Southern Africa she returned to Kenya, which is now her home.

From a very early age I was introduced into the safari world through my parents who had their own safari company. In accompanying my parents on safari I was able to learn a great deal about flora and fauna in East Africa and it was then, from this early age, that I found my love for nature and developed my great respect for the wilderness and its people.

In December 2007, I was invited to work in association with the guides of Ker & Downey Safaris, one of the oldest and most respected safari companies in Africa. As a professional safari guide it is a true privilege to have the opportunity to work with this prestigious company and run luxury lodges safaris as well as truly traditional private luxury mobile tented camp safaris all over Sub Saharan Africa.

I am a fanatical fly-fisherman and spend much of my time outside of safaris on the crystal clear trout streams of Kenya's central highlands. I am also a very keen golfer and have led specialised golfing and fishing safaris all over Kenya. My experience, knowledge of and enthusiasm for both flora and fauna as well as being fluent in English, Kiswahili, French and Spanish, ensures everyone has  an unforgettable safari and hopefully leaves with that feeling of wanting to come back to see more of this amazing continent.

Claudia and I are fortunate to be able to call Africa our home and like all good things it needs to be shared!
