BRIAN WILLIAM FINCH
Brian is a Kenyan Citizen with a passion for Birds, but also has
many interests in other branches of natural history. Currently leading
bird tours in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Madagascar for American
Birding Association, Birdquest, Limosa, Sunbird and Wings, he is
a Freelance Operator and able to organise private tours. Co-Author
of the current Field Guide to the Birds of East Africa (Poyser),
and the Field Guide to the Birds of New Guinea (Princeton), other
publications within Kenya have included the Bird Checklists to Nairobi
National Park, Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Buffalo Springs, Samburu
and Shaba Game Reserves, and Tsavo National Parks (in press). He
is also in the last stages of producing a mammoth 15 CD set covering
the calls and songs of nearly every one of the 1400 odd species
found in the East African region. As well as English, speaks French
fluently, and has given radio broadcasts in that language, also
speaking both Swahili and Melanesian Pidgin, is also trying to learn
Malgasche. President of the Papua New Guinea Bird Society for nine
years, and editor of their publications for a similar period. Widely
travelled in all continents. An active Director of the KPSGA, and
Chairman of the Examination Committee, Brian is dedicated to maintaining
a professionalism in the tourism industry. He can be contacted on
